Sports section
As the Sports Editor, I was responsible for completing the InDesign files for all of the stories that go into the sports sections. As a staff, it is not our policy to watermark our designs. This is a story one of my staffers wrote about some seniors who quite the wrestling team after the resignation of their old coach. I edited the photo to make the background of the gym black and white to signify the boys' departure.
Sports section
This an InDesign layout from the same issue of the ODYSSEY magazine. The story includes student athletes who were unable to continue their athletic careers outside of high school, so I included photos from yearbooks as well as staged photos from current-day to display the time that has gone by.
Sports section
This spread is for a profile on the first female varsity soccer player at the school. It was a challenge to work with the cartoon, as I had to play around with the effects to make the design flow with the text of the article.
summer mailer
Last year I designed this summer mailer to send out to hopeful members of the program to give them the basic information about the publication. I focused a lot on creating a bright, happy color scheme and showcasing the diversity of our student body.
infographic
Infographics are graphics that display information. The design of them is really important in order to make the information flow and make sense for the reader. This infographic depicts the legal rights of undocumented immigrants and was used as a supportive multimedia element for a feature length story.
