fun!raising
The ODYSSEY staff runs its own concession stand at Sanford Stadium at the University of Georgia. Our program doesn't get enough funding from the district to be able to pay for our four issues of the magazine, so we do fundraisers to be able to keep the program. I have worked as a cashier at games, promoting our brand to customers and raising money for our program.
Selling subscriptions
Because of our school's demographics, we give issues out for free in the school for distribution. As a staff member of the ODYSSEY, we are required to complete a marketing project. We are required to attempt selling subscriptions of our magazine. During this past year's marketing project I sold 5 subscriptions out of 7 attempts. This allows us to make money for our program while also promoting our brand and connecting with people in our community.

My senior year I participated in a Work-Based Learning program which allowed me to take a job with the Athens Downtown Development Authority. I was able to photograph downtown and manage a social media account. In a sense, I was promoting and marketing for the economic prosperity of all of downtown Athens. I was able to almost triple the accounts following during my ownership.
